Volgens motorauthority.com heeft Lexus bevestigd dat het speciaal voor de Europese markt een compact model gaat introduceren. Dit model moet de competitie aangaan met de A3, de B-klasse en de 1-serie. Verder zou het Lexus goed uitkomen betreffende de Europese emissie eisen.

The carmaker’s executive vice president Tokuichi Uranishi has previously hinted that a model positioned below the current IS could be launched to help reach an internal goal of 150,000 sales in Europe by 2015. Now, the managing director for its European division, Tadashi Arashima, has confirmed in an interview with Germany’s WirtschaftsWoche newspaper that Lexus will eventually launch a new compact car.

“We will offer a Lexus in the compact class,” he told reporters, explaining that the company needs “smaller and more efficient vehicles” to meet Europe’s CO2 emissions regulations. He described the car as being a rival to the likes of BMW’s 1-series and Audi’s A3, although he didn’t reveal any exact release date.

Lexus heeft gisteren een nieuw online tv-kanaal gelanceerd met de naam L/Studio. Het ziet er naar uit dat Lexus met deze stap een echt life-style merk gaat worden. Op het kanaal wordt oa de serie vertoond met de naam “Web Therapy. Hierin speelt niemand minder dan Lisa Kudrow (Friends; Phoebe Buffay ) de rol van een rare psychiater.

For now, the rest of L Studio is an eclectic mix of high-toned nonfiction programing that concerns everything from art to architecture to science. Some notable figures who are profiled on the site include the Doors’ Ray Manzarek and designer Patricia Field. Taken together, the connective thread between the programing mix and the Lexus brand, Blanchard said, is the theme of innovation. "We kind of look at ourselves as a broadband HBO," she said. "Being on broadband in and of itself is innovative for a lot of these artists."
